About the project

'Among the Living' brings the worlds of art and skateboarding together in a touring project. Ten artists have made a new work to be reproduced as the graphic on a skateboard. These will be exhibited through a series of one day events in skateparks around the UK, involving an amateur skate competition/jam and demos by invited teams. The winners from each competition will be invited to join the tour, skating on behalf of one of the commissioned artists, creating an inter-city/artist v artist skate competition.

At two of the gallery venues there will be new commissions by Ross Sinclair (Chapter, Cardiff) and Juneau Projects (mima, Middlesbrough). Ross Sinclair's commission includes skateable elements, with an open invitation for skaters to come and skate in the gallery.

Happening on Saturdays throughout July and August, each event will last roughly four hours (12.00-4.00pm) and will be open to the public and skaters alike (entrance fees apply in London, Newport and Leicester).

Prissick Fun, this Saturday

Let's pray for sunshine as the final leg of the tour approaches Prissick Plaza this Saturday August 4th and boy, oh boy, have we got a line-up for you. As well as our good friends from Milton Keynes (including Troy Wilding who's just landed himself a flow deal with Karma. Good work son!), we've got the Heathen team coming down- Colin Adam, Mark Burrows, Simon Skipp and Daryl Nobbs. Joining them will be their friends Craig Smedley (Adio/Icon) and Chris 'Bambi' Price (Silver Star). The Science Team are coming down - Chris Morgan, Scott Howes, Dan Tomlinson, Joe Sivell and Shaun Witherup. Capturing the whole day to digital history will be Arkology's very own Andy King, along with Henry Edwards Wood, Dane Crock and Darren Pearcy. Rumour has it that a few other folk might show up unannounced too. Usual deal; we've got 10 decks to give away to random good skaters. Come along, have a skate, see some amazing skating from some of this countries best, then come along to the Empire at 7.30pm, free entry and an evening of DJ's/skate projections and some free beer. What more can we do!
